SICK!
Junie is sick. Newsworthy? Blogworthy? Maybe not except for the fact that she has NEVER- not once- been sick since she's been home! Oh, she had a runny nose that lasted for a month last year but I truly believe it was cleft related. She has never had a fever, a sore throat, a tummy ache. She has never thrown up. Sunday she was FINE until evening. I brought the boys to youth group and David was in charge. When I got home he told me that Junie fell asleep on the couch (unheard of) and told him that her eyes hurt. When I crept into her room to take her temp, since that all sounded a little suspicious to me, she had a 103.8. Poor thing. She was pretty puny all day Monday. Just laid on my bed and watched TV. Although I hated her to feel bad, I didn't mind it the 20 times she looked at me or rubbed my hand and said, "I love you to the moon and back, Mommy". I guess a fever makes her more of a lovie! Tuesday she seemed fine, I thought it was just some fluke bug and we even went to Trader Joes (sorry to all shopping while we were there or the child who got her mini cart after her!). And then Wednesday she woke up miserable and with a big fever again. Then, fearing strep, we ventured to our doctor (my kids now have to be really sick for that as we are still going to our doctor in Johns Creek!). The nurse gently swabbed her throat for strep and violently swabbed her nose for the flu. And the flu test responded immediately- positive. So, Junie's first illness and it's the flu. Poor thing. Secretly, or not so much, I have enjoyed spending this week with her home, and she is the easiest patient ever. In fact, the flu just seems to slow her down a bit and stay out of trouble. Flu, anyone?
